Highsmith (played by Samuel L. Jackson) and Danson (played by Dwayne Johnson) are an unstoppable and flawless duo, the super elite of the New York Police Department and admired by their colleagues. On the other hand, Allen (played by Will Ferrell), a seemingly clueless guy, and Terry (played by Mark Wahlberg), with a short temper but great skills, are low-level officers who spend their time doing petty tasks like helping old ladies cross the street or breaking up fights.
By chance, they get the opportunity to fill in for their idol and they are determined not to let it slip away. However, their different personalities and styles clash, causing chaos and confusion.
